ST JOSEPH'S showed signs it is beginning to come of age in a five goal win over Bell Park on Thursday night.

Joeys, which has an average age of 19 years, made the most of a home advantage during the round eight clash played under lights.

The game was moved from its scheduled Saturday time slot following a clash with Geelong Cougars games yesterday.

The Victorian Netball League club had asked its players to contribute a half game maximum, which would have left St Joseph's more than two players short.

Joeys led the Dragons at every quarter and at half time had about a 10 goal lead on its even-placed rivals.

The Dragons fought back in the second half but St Joseph's managed to hold on and extend a fourth quarter lead from three goals to five.

Southby-Halbish was impressed with goal defender Tessa Burton and Annie Wilmot, who combined well with co-captain Sarah Breed through the mid-court.

"Our start was perfect," she said.

"Finals are a possibility. I'd be disappointed if the girls didn't make the top five but there is Lara and Bell Park and Leopold. It's going to be a fight."
