COLAC'S playing depth was highlighted in its eight-goal win over St Joseph's in Saturday's match-of-the round in GFL A Grade netball.

The Tigers have dug deep into their junior ranks and discovered two talented young shooters in 15-year-old Zoe Donne and 16-year-old Simone Hickman over the past few weeks.

The pair have gained their opportunities in the senior ranks because of injuries to star goaler Rebecca Scott (ankle) and coach Courtney Gibson (hamstring), but have slotted into the lineup comfortably.

Donne, who joined Colac from Lorne this season, shot 35 goals in the 47-39 win while Hickman, who arrived at Central Reserve from Simpson, was also prominent.

Gibson said she was pleased with how the youngsters had handled the step up since coming into the side.

The win keeps Colac in touch with the top three ahead of upcoming games against Geelong West-St Peter's and St Mary's.

"It's a good lead up for us to the finals and I want the young girls to be playing hard, physical games," Gibson said.

Gibson said she hoped to return either against the Roosters or Saints but added Scott was still a month away.

Gibson said she was pleased by how Colac withstood St Joseph's pressure in the first quarter to record an important win.
