YOU can just about rule a line through Leopold's finals aspirations.

The Lions went down by a heartbreaking two points to Newtown & Chilwell, their fifth loss by under a kick this season, and now sit two games outside the top-five and will need to win their remaining four games to have any hope of making finals.

The game was set for a grandstand finish in the final term with scores level at 10.7 (67) at three-quarter time.

The midfield combination for the Lions of Luke Gale, Matt Miller and Sam Hughes were able to send the Lions forward on a number of occasions, having nine scoring shots in the final term.

Despite having three less scoring shots, the Eagles were able to capitalise on their opportunities to give the Lions their third consecutive loss.

The Lions face a daunting task next weekend when they travel out to the Snakepit to take on the form team of the competition in the Cats
